Traditional Games are similar to those games still existence
with our older generation, but are no longer practiced in the younger people of
today. The games' main objective is to dedicate social and educational actions,
promote popular culture through its oral and sportive traditions and industrial
arts. Another objective is to defend and value the cultural patrimony of
Portugal. Most of all, Traditional Games are a friendly and a cultural
gathering. Please join us during the months of May and June on Saturday
afternoons from 2 - 4 p.m. at the
PORTUGUESE CULTURAL CENTER

| Jogo do Sapo
(Toad Game)
The object of this game is to toss and insert the disc into one or more
of the holes than totaling the score. Each hole is equivalent to a
number. The toad has his mouth open and if inserted it has the
highest points (usually 100 points). The person who scores the most
points wins. |

| Jogo de Argola
(Ring Toss Game)
At a distance 4 rings are tossed to loop around a stick. Each
stick has a number (1,2,3,4 or 5). The one in the middle has the
highest point. The person who scores the most points wins. |

| Jogos de Queijos
(Cheese Game)
The object of this game is to roll the wooden wheels up the ramp and
knock down the pins that contain points. Again totaling the points determines
the winner. |

| Andas (Stilts)
Walking on stilts you can do races of stilt runners. Trying to
keep your balance is a tough task. |
