The Sons of Portugal Scholarship Committee would like to extend our gratitude to all individuals involved in making the 2007 golf tournament a resounding success.

Save the date for the 18th Annual Golf Classic on August 20, 2008.

 

The History

The Sons of Portugal Scholarship was established in 1965 with the primary objective of recognizing and rewarding academic excellence among students of Portuguese descent. Scholarship awards ranging from $1,000.00 to $3,000.00 are given to High School Seniors and College students seeking a bachelors degree in an approved undergraduate program of study.

Applications

Applications may be obtained in the Media Center at the Portuguese Cultural Center or at the Guidance Department Offices at all area high schools and trade schools in the greater Danbury area beginning February 1, 2008. Applications may also be downloaded off the Portuguese Cultural Center website . All applications must be properly completed and postmarked no later than April 1, 2008.

Awards Notification

Judging takes place after the April 1st deadline. All applicants are notified by mail approximately the first week in May as to whether or not they are a finalist. All finalists or a member of their family are required to attend the Scholarship Award Banquet which will be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Portuguese Cultural Center. At that time they will be presented with their scholarship award.
