"As Vindimas" - Picnic

On August 24th and 25th we celebrated the annual picnic " As Vindimas" . On Saturday many enjoyed live music by the band "Intensity" , watched the Manuel Cipriano Folklore group  perform and enjoy the great Portuguese food.  On Sunday the girls' teams started the festivities with the first soccer game. The girls had a great time playing soccer and the Red team won 3 - 1. The following game was the ladies soccer game. They played a great game, the white team won the game 2 to 0. There was also the finals for the Portuguese Cultural Center Soccer Tournament. The first game was for third and fourth place Benfica vs Porto. Benfica won the game 4 - 1 and received 3rd place. The last game the Portuguese Cultural Center played against Sporting. Sporting won 3 - 1 and received the first place trophy. 

There was also dance music by the DJ. The Sons of Portugal Folklore Group also performed and demonstrated to the crowd how the wine was made in the old days in Portugal. Audience members were able to experience how the grapes were crushed in the old days by using their feet. It brought back memories for some of the audience members and taught some of the younger kids how the wine was made.
