The fall 2000 was the inaugural season for “Os veteranos” (the veterans).

A group of soccer players formed a team to compete in a non league concept. Teams are formed from other Portuguese clubs located in New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. The team has visited many other clubs and have entertained other teams at the facility which is to be admired.

The philosophy of this team is one where all can participate in a physical activity while creating an environment of camaraderie.  Sportsmanship and fair play is first and foremost when we enter to compete in games. We have not renewed our participation with two other clubs as we expect a sportsmanship like behavior both from our team and opponents. The attitude and maturity of our players is most important as we represent this wonderful center and all the 1,000 plus members.

We regularly schedule a team that is comprised of former Portuguese professional players. Some players on this team have represented such clubs as Benfica, Sporting, Porto, and Setubal.

If you are interested in participating please contact one of the team members. At this time we have a full roster. We have players on a waiting list that you would be put on.

In conclusion our group plans to create a positive environment to participate in sport. We hope to give some entertainment for everyone watching the game. Stay active and create a positive atmosphere for club members to participate.
